Couple Tried To Sell Baby At Walmart For $25

In class we have talked about the personal value and self-worth. Well, now we know exactly how much a life is worth, if we were to believe a couple from northern California who tried to sell their 6-month old baby to strangers.

  • What were the parents' motivation for attempting to sell their child?
  • What might the parents' level of their own self-esteem be?
  • What are some of the barriers to the child's self-esteem, in this story?

What is especially ironic is Walmart's slogan: Save Money. Live Better.

This is the perfect example of what meth does to a person who abuses it. I believe that it is safe to say that this couple does not use for recreational purposes but rather with the intent of getting high as a kite and you can conclude and state that they are hardcore addicts, this might be a bit harsh to say, but who in their right minds would attempt to sell their very own 6 month old baby for $25. It appears that as a result of using, their minds are so clouded that they have avoided consciousness, escaped awareness of their feelings and masked their depression. In my opinion the level of self esteem that this couple possess is at zero and in order for them to change and start on a strategy, the first step for them to take would be to admit and realize the truth and to begin to think about getting clean and sober. Since the mother was breast feeding the infant while using meth and taking into consideration, the child's age, I am geared towards saying that this baby is not aware of what actually happened and there is a possibility that the infant might have been affected in some way from the exposure of meth. I hope that this child gets placed with a good family so that he can grow up and develop a good level of self esteem!!

This is just 1 more truth of how devistating the affects drug use and drug additiong is that a couple can stoop so low as to sell their child for $25 bucks-a quick fix that will only last momentarily. And the worst part has yet to come. Now that they've been arrested, what emotions will they go thru when the affects of the meth wear off, knowing that they tried to sell their baby? This is when they will beat themselves up more and start that vicious cycle again and probably want to escape by using drugs. its easeier-much easier than trying to get sober.

We can only hope that the corrections and social services department will provie them the resources and opportunitys to seek help to become sober.

These two are running and hiding from something in life, and unless they are willing to face their demons and work thru the pain of their history, past agressions and fears will then learn a sense of freedom. They will also learn self-worth, self-esteem and efficasy. But not many are willing to stick around and go thru the pain to gain this freedom.

Somtimes it IS easier said then done.

You know hopefully the child will not remember or that it does not interfere with the child's success. As for the people on a very highly toxic substance. You cannot make sense out of why they did what they did. The hard-wiring of their brains was completely messed up. The substance they were on is known to drive you right out of your right mind.

The motive behind what the parents were doing is pretty harsh. They did not care about the baby at all that proves positive , when they tried to sell the baby for more drugs. The parents have no clue who they truely are otherwise I think that they would have chosen a different path altogether in life. The child will hopefully not be completely traumatized for the rest of the child's life.
